ARMY BURIES BRIG GEN BRAIMAH, FALLEN SOLDIERS IN MAIDUGURI
The Nigerian Army has buried Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, Captain Ismail, and other soldiers killed in a recent insurgent attack in Borno State.
The fallen officers and troops were laid to rest at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri with full military honours during a solemn ceremony attended by top officials.
The soldiers lost their lives on April 9 following coordinated attacks by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters in Benisheikh, a strategic town along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.
In a statement, the Army described the burial as emotional and reflective, honouring the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen personnel.
Among dignitaries present were Babagana Zulum and the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, alongside other senior military officers.
They paid tribute to the deceased, describing them as patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of Nigeria’s peace and unity.
The Army noted that the ceremony highlighted the heavy cost borne by the armed forces in the fight against insurgency, while prayers were offered for the fallen soldiers and support extended to their grieving families.
