The Nigerian Army has commenced a promotion exercise for 1,115 warrant officers seeking advancement to the rank of Master Warrant Officer in Rivers State.

The 2026 Warrant Officers–Master Warrant Officers Promotion Board is being held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area, and is hosted by Headquarters 6 Division of the Nigerian Army.

The Chief of Personnel Management, Army, Major General Adewale Adekeye, urged the candidates to demonstrate professionalism and give their best throughout the exercise.

He also advised participants to consider their physical limits and prioritise their health and wellbeing during the assessment.

The promotion exercise, which began on September 2 and is scheduled to end on September 22, involves several stages, including documentation, certificate verification, medical examinations, physical fitness tests, written examinations and oral interviews.

Other assessments include drill, weapon handling and computer literacy tests.

The General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General Everest Okoro, expressed confidence that the promotion board would conduct a fair and transparent assessment.

He encouraged the candidates to approach the process with discipline and confidence, saying it would give them an opportunity to demonstrate their competence, leadership abilities and readiness for greater responsibilities.

The Army said the exercise reflects its focus on professional development and merit-based career progression among its personnel.
