ARMED HERDSMEN KILL FARMER IN FRESH ATTACK ON BENUE COMMUNITY
Tragedy has struck Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State as armed herdsmen launched yet another attack, leaving a farmer dead.
The victim, identified as Hemen Ayua Jonyi, was reportedly ambushed on Tuesday while on his way to his yam farm, located less than a mile from the village square. He was said to have been brutally hacked to death with a machete.
This fresh assault has once again thrown the community into mourning, as residents continue to live in fear of recurring violence.
The latest attack is not an isolated case. Just two weeks ago, three residents of Yelewata were killed and several others were injured in a similar incident. Even more devastating, less than three months ago, over 200 villagers were massacred in the same community during a large-scale raid by suspected herdsmen.
The people of Yelewata are now calling on the government and security agencies to urgently step in and put an end to the relentless bloodshed, stressing that they can no longer live in constant fear of attacks.
