ARMED HERDSMEN AMBUSH BUS, KIDNAP PASSENGERS ON MAKURDI–NAKA ROAD
Panic has gripped parts of Benue State after suspected armed herdsmen hijacked a commercial bus and abducted its passengers on the Makurdi–Naka road.
According to eyewitness accounts, the vehicle had departed Makurdi for Naka before it was intercepted by the attackers. The gunmen reportedly forced the passengers out of the vehicle and marched them into nearby bushes at gunpoint.
The exact number of victims remains unclear at the time of reporting.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for Benue State Command, ASP Edet Udeme, said she had not yet received an official report of the incident but promised to confirm the situation and provide updates.
The Makurdi–Naka highway has witnessed multiple security incidents in recent months, raising fresh concerns about the safety of travellers in the region.
