APM Terminals Apapa has awarded scholarships to 50 undergraduate students from its host community in Apapa, Lagos, as part of its efforts to support education and youth development.

The scholarships were presented during the third edition of the company’s scholarship programme, which is open to students studying in public universities and other accredited higher institutions across Nigeria.

With the latest beneficiaries, the company said 151 undergraduates have now received support through the initiative since it began.

Chief Executive Officer of APM Terminals Nigeria, Koen De Backer, said investing in young people was important to developing future leaders and creating lasting value in host communities.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and take advantage of the opportunity to develop their skills.

De Backer said the company measured its success not only by its operational performance but also by the impact it created within the communities where it operates.

The Terminal Managing Director of APM Terminals Apapa, Kamal Alhraishat, said the scholarship scheme reflected the company’s commitment to investing in people.

The initiative forms part of APM Terminals’ corporate social responsibility programmes, with education and youth empowerment identified as key areas of support for its host community.
