APM CALLS FOR RELEASE OF FBI RECORDS ON TINUBU
The Action Peoples Movement has called for the release of records held by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation concerning President Bola Tinubu.
The political party said making the documents public would help address ongoing questions and allegations surrounding the President and allow Nigerians to examine the information for themselves.
The APM made the demand amid renewed public discussion over documents relating to Tinubu that are reportedly held by US authorities.
The party argued that greater transparency was necessary, particularly as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections and political debates over the President’s background continue to intensify.
According to the APM, Nigerians have a right to access information that is relevant to public discussions about the country’s leadership, provided the release of such information is legally permissible.
The party urged relevant authorities to ensure that any records that can lawfully be made public are released without unnecessary delays.
The demand comes amid differing positions from political actors over the FBI records, with critics calling for their disclosure while supporters of the President have questioned the significance of the documents to Nigeria’s political affairs.
The APM said the issue should be handled transparently and based on facts rather than political speculation.
The party maintained that releasing the records could help settle some of the questions surrounding Tinubu and promote accountability ahead of the 2027 election.
