APC’S VICTORIES CAME FROM GRASSROOTS MOBILIZATION, NOT VOTE BUYING – ARGUNGU
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected allegations of vote buying in its recent electoral victories, insisting that its success was built on grassroots mobilization and purposeful leadership.
Speaking in an interview with Symfoni TV, the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, explained that the APC believes in “open democracy” rather than using financial inducements to sway voters.
“We encourage our party members, the candidates in particular, and party leaders to mobilize people rather than buy votes. We don’t give money to anybody to go and buy votes. We believe in open democracy,” Argungu said.
He emphasized that the proactive decision of the APC National Chairman to personally lead campaigns across different states was a clear strategy to inspire confidence and show commitment to party members.
According to him, this approach played a major role in the APC’s recent win in a Kano constituency and other parts of the country.
Argungu also revealed that he monitored the elections from the party’s Situation Room, confirming with agents across states that there were no cases of vote buying or malpractice — except for a few minor issues in Anambra State, which he said he personally resolved.
For the APC, Argungu maintained, the focus remains on mobilizing citizens, strengthening party structures, and demonstrating leadership, rather than relying on illegal shortcuts during elections.
