APC’S ALLI UNVEILS BOLD BLUEPRINT FOR OYO’S TRANSFORMATION

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli,  has reiterated his commitment to building a prosperous, secure and economically vibrant Oyo through responsive governance and sustainable development.

Alli stated this while  unveiling his governance blueprint during a programme tagged “A Day With BSA” held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

The lawmaker pledged to reposition Oyo through local government autonomy, quality education, agricultural transformation, improved healthcare, enhanced security, infrastructure development and workers’ welfare.

The APC candidate pledged full implementation of local government autonomy in line with the Constitution to strengthen grassroots governance and accelerate development across the state.

He said that local councils would effectively drive agriculture, food production, security, rural development and other constitutional responsibilities under his administration.

Alli promised to restore subventions and running grants to local governments for the rehabilitation of council roads and for strengthening neighborhood watch groups as well as vigilante groups.

He assured residents that empowered local governments would independently execute projects that directly improve the welfare of communities.

Speaking on education, Alli promised reforms across primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions to improve standards and restore public confidence.

He said that consultants managing tertiary institutions would be disengaged, while governing councils would operate according to their enabling laws.

The APC candidate promised to reduce class sizes to 30 pupils, recruit teachers, upgrade facilities and restore school subventions.

He also pledged to revive school farms in rural communities and establish new technical colleges across the state’s three senatorial districts to promote vocational education.

On agriculture, Alli promised commodity boards, farm implements, fertilisers and tractors to boost food production and support farmers.

He said that cottage industries would process farm produce, while guaranteed off-takers would create employment opportunities for young agripreneurs.

The governorship candidate pledged functional primary healthcare centres in every ward and general hospitals across all local government areas.

He also promised the recruitment of medical personnel to improve access to quality healthcare services statewide.

Alli pledged to strengthen neighbourhood watch and vigilante groups with improved welfare, operational vehicles and modern security equipment.

He said road rehabilitation and potable water supply would receive priority across urban and rural communities.

According to him, schools, hospitals, markets and other public institutions would also enjoy improved water supply.

Alli promised greater government support for artisans, market associations and other trade groups to promote peaceful coexistence and economic growth.

He assured civil servants of prompt salary payments before the 25th of every month, regular recruitment and continuous capacity development.

The APC candidate also promised prompt payment of pensions, gratuities and restoration of the 13th-month salary.

On sports, Alli pledged to revive grassroots competitions and construct standard stadiums across the state’s six geopolitical zones.

He also promised greater support for Shooting Stars Sports Club and other football clubs operating in Oyo State.

The governorship candidate assured members that grievances arising from the fallout of the party’s gubernatorial primary election in the state would soon be resolved.

“It is not out of place to see aggrieved aspirants in a strong political party like the APC which paraded array of well qualified and competent individuals who had shown interest in contesting for the party’s ticket.

“I want to assure you all that grievances from the fallout of the gubernatorial primary election of the party in the state would soon be resolved,” he said.

The State NUJ Chairman, Akeem Abas, said the union was apolitical and performing its role as agenda setters.

He said that the union would bring all the governorship candidates on board to inform the populace of their governance blueprint.

The event was attended by Alli’s running mate, Adesoji Adedeji, the State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, members of the State APC executives, party chieftain and hosts of supporters.
