APC UNVEILS NOMINATION FEES AND ELECTION GUIDELINES FOR LAGOS LG POLLS
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has published the official nomination fees and requirements for aspirants vying for positions in the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State.
In a statement signed by the party’s Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and Secretary, Dr. Adeola Jokomba, APC detailed the financial obligations and eligibility criteria for both chairmanship and councillorship candidates.
💼 Chairmanship Aspirants
Men are expected to pay ₦5 million for nomination and an additional ₦500,000 for administrative processing.
Women benefit from a 50% concession on the nomination fee, paying ₦2.5 million, while the administrative fee remains unchanged at ₦500,000.
Youths under 40 are also eligible for a 50% discount, bringing their nomination fee to ₦2.5 million, plus ₦500,000 in administrative charges.
Aspirants with disabilities are exempted from paying the nomination fee altogether and will only pay a reduced ₦250,000 administrative fee.
The APC clarified that no separate fee will be charged for individuals contesting the position of Vice Chairman.
Councillorship Aspirants
Male candidates are to pay ₦1 million for nomination and ₦100,000 in administrative fees.
Female candidates will pay ₦250,000 for nomination and the same ₦100,000 administrative charge.
Youths will enjoy a 50% reduction on the nomination fee (₦500,000 for males), with no change to the administrative cost.
Persons with disabilities are exempt from the nomination fee and will only pay a ₦50,000 administrative fee.
Eligibility & Application Conditions
All payments must be made by bank draft addressed to All Progressives Congress, Lagos State.
Minimum Age Requirements:
30 years for Chairmanship aspirants
25 years for Councillorship aspirants
Education: Candidates must possess at least a secondary school certificate or its equivalent. Additional qualifications are an advantage.
Citizenship: Applicants must be Nigerian nationals.
Endorsements Required:
Chairmanship aspirants must secure backing from 5 registered APC members within their ward, LGA, or LCDA.
Councillorship aspirants need endorsements from 20 such members from their ward.
Screening: All candidates must be approved by the party’s Screening Committee before contesting in the primaries.
Resignation Rule: Party officials intending to run must step down at least 30 days before the election or primaries.
All aspirants are required to uphold the APC’s Code of Conduct and meet any constitutional requirements relevant to their desired office.
