The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suffered another setback as many of its members in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State have dumped the party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The new members were officially received on Sunday by Senator Abubakar Gada, a key leader in the ADC coalition.

Speaking at the event, Senator Gada said the wave of defections reflects the growing frustration of Nigerians with the APC-led government. He noted that insecurity and economic hardship have crippled Sokoto East and many parts of the country, leaving citizens struggling to survive.

“Our people are facing serious security threats that have destroyed farming, which is our main source of livelihood. This has worsened poverty, unemployment, and hunger in our communities,” he said.

According to him, the rising number of people embracing the ADC shows a strong desire for change and confidence in the party’s vision.

“Many Nigerians are joining ADC because they believe in our mission to rescue the country. The APC government’s poor performance has forced people to look for hope elsewhere, and ADC is providing that alternative,” Gada added.

The development adds to the growing list of defections rocking the APC across states, a trend analysts say could reshape political dynamics ahead of the next elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
