Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olabode George, has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a coalition of strange bedfellows.

George made the remark on Friday during the inauguration of new PDP executives in Lagos State, accusing the APC of pushing Nigerians to the brink by planning to manipulate the 2027 elections.

He cautioned both the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against engaging in electoral malpractice ahead of the general elections, emphasizing that INEC must uphold fairness and transparency.

“APC is just a coalition of strange bedfellows. In PDP, INEC cannot choose our leaders for us. Opposition parties will resist this irresponsible behaviour from the electoral umpire,” he said.

The former Ondo State military administrator also criticized the management of a recent election in the Federal Capital Territory, describing it as chaotic. He alleged that security agents disrupted voting at a polling unit in Abuja by firing tear gas and seizing ballot boxes, calling the actions “shameful and despicable.”

Assuring PDP members of a revitalized party, George stressed that anti-democratic elements within the APC would not be allowed to undermine the opposition.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
