APC FIXES AUGUST 22 FOR STATE, FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE PRIMARIES
The All Progressives Congress has fixed Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its primary elections to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states and legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
The party announced this in its timetable and schedule of activities signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and released on Wednesday.
The APC said the timetable followed the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission to restore four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states.
The affected constituencies in Delta are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II, while Yagba West II is the affected constituency in Kogi State.
For the legislative bye-elections, the party listed Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi; Udu State Constituency in Delta; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.
According to the timetable, the sale of nomination forms will run from Tuesday, August 18, to Thursday, August 20, while the deadline for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is August 20.
The screening of aspirants, publication of screening results and screening appeals are scheduled for Friday, August 21, ahead of the primaries on Saturday, August 22.
Election appeals are scheduled for Monday, August 24.
For State House of Assembly aspirants, the APC fixed the expression of interest fee at ₦1 million and the nomination fee at ₦5 million, bringing the total to ₦6 million.
For House of Representatives aspirants, the expression of interest fee is ₦1 million, while the nomination fee is ₦9 million, totalling ₦10 million.
The party stated that female, youth and physically challenged aspirants would pay the expression of interest fee and 50 per cent of the prescribed nomination fee for their respective positions.
It also directed that all payments be made in full directly into the designated bank account of the APC.
The development followed INEC’s restoration of the four previously suppressed constituencies in Delta and Kogi states after court judgments.
The affected constituencies had remained suppressed for years, leaving residents without direct representation in their respective State Houses of Assembly.
The APC timetable also covers the forthcoming legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states, including the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, where the seat became vacant following the death of lawmaker Tongo Yaya.
