APC, ACCORD PARTY TRADE BLAME OVER OSUN POLITICAL VIOLENCE
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party in Osun State have traded accusations over recent political violence that disrupted activities in parts of the state, deepening tensions between both parties.
Both sides blamed each other for the mayhem, with each claiming that its supporters were either attacked or provoked during the incident. The disagreement has further escalated existing political rivalries in the state.
The APC alleged that members of the Accord Party were responsible for initiating the unrest, while the Accord Party countered, insisting that its supporters were victims of unprovoked attacks allegedly linked to APC members.
Security agencies have since intervened to restore calm in the affected areas, with patrols increased to prevent further escalation. Authorities also confirmed that investigations have begun to determine those responsible for the violence.
Residents expressed concern over the recurring clashes, calling on political leaders to rein in their supporters and prioritize peace ahead of future political activities.
Civil society groups have also condemned the incident, urging all parties to embrace dialogue and adhere to electoral guidelines to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
As tensions remain high, security officials have assured the public that measures are in place to maintain peace and hold perpetrators accountable.
