APAPA PORT REMAINS SHUT TO PROHIBITED IMPORTS – OSHOBA

The Comptroller of Apapa Port, Mr. Babatunde Oshoba, has reiterated that the port remains closed to prohibited imports as part of efforts to enforce government policies and promote legitimate trade.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement, Oshoba emphasised that the Nigeria Customs Service would continue to block the entry of items on the prohibited list to protect local industries and generate revenue through compliant trade. He urged importers and clearing agents to adhere strictly to import guidelines to avoid delays and penalties.

The Comptroller noted that the policy has helped reduce the influx of substandard goods and supported the growth of domestic manufacturing. He also assured compliant traders of seamless clearance processes and improved service delivery at the port.

Stakeholders welcomed the firm stance, describing it as necessary for safeguarding the economy and encouraging local production. They called for continued sensitisation to ensure all operators understand the rules and their implications.

The Apapa Port command remains committed to facilitating legitimate trade while maintaining strict compliance with federal government directives on prohibited items.
