ANTHONY JOSHUA’S DUBAI DINNER INTERRUPTED BY SURPRISE DRUG TEST
British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua had his quiet evening in Dubai take an unexpected turn when officials from the UK Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) gatecrashed his dinner on Thursday night.
Joshua was dining at a luxury restaurant with his promoter Eddie Hearn, reportedly discussing his next fight, when UKAD officers arrived unannounced to conduct a test.
Hearn shared footage of the incident on social media with the tongue-in-cheek caption: “Most tested fighter of all time. Hasn’t boxed for a year. Out for dinner in Dubai and UKAD rock up.”
In the clip, Hearn can be heard saying: “Unbelievable scenes. UKAD turn up.” The camera then pans to Joshua, who smiled, flexed his arm, and joked: “Ed, they must have seen my chin-ups.”
As the official anti-doping partner of the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC), UKAD reserves the right to test any licensed boxer at any time, even abroad. The process may involve urine or blood samples, and fighters are required to declare their international travel.
Joshua, who last fought in September 2024 when he suffered a knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois, remains in the testing pool as he continues preparations for his next bout.
The surprise testing highlights both Joshua’s profile as one of the most closely monitored fighters in the sport and the strict measures boxing authorities enforce to ensure clean competition.
