ANOTHER BRIDGE COLLAPSE IN TARABA CUTS OFF COMMUNITIES FROM JALINGO

Transportation in parts of Taraba State has been thrown into chaos following the collapse of the Malam-Audu Bridge on Thursday.

The bridge, which connects Pantisawa in Yorro Local Government Area to Jalingo, the state capital, gave way after hours of heavy rainfall.

The sudden collapse left hundreds of commuters and pedestrians stranded on both sides, forcing travellers to take long, alternative routes to reach their destinations.

Eyewitnesses say the bridge came down without warning, though no casualties have been confirmed so far.

For residents, the incident is a painful reminder of last year’s Namnai Bridge collapse in Gassol LGA — a structure that has yet to be repaired. Many locals fear the same slow response could follow this latest disaster.

“We have been cut off from the state capital and other areas. The government must treat this as urgent,” said Mallam Saliu, a community member.

Others echoed the concern, warning that the bridge’s collapse would hurt not only the local economy of Pantisawa but also Taraba North and the state at large.

With the rainy season still ongoing, locals are calling for swift action to restore the route and prevent further infrastructure failures.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
