Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has once again proven its dominance in African basketball by clinching its fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title. The tournament wrapped up on Sunday in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria capped it off with a commanding 78–64 win over Mali in the final.
The star of the night was Amy Okonkwo, who delivered a near double-double performance with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists in the final game. Her efforts earned her the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award — making it the second straight tournament where she has claimed the honor.
