AMANGWO RESIDENTS DEMAND JUSTICE OVER KILLING OF 22-YEAR-OLD YOUTH
Members of the Amangwo community in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State have taken to the streets in protest, demanding justice for 22-year-old Solomon Ikokwu, who was allegedly killed by members of a disbanded local security outfit.
The protesters gathered at the Ikwuano Local Government Headquarters in Isiala Oboro, chanting songs of sorrow and calling for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the brutal murder.
Their demonstration followed an emotional plea by the victim’s mother, Mrs. Onyekachi Ikokwu, who had earlier appealed to Abia State authorities to bring her son’s killers to justice. In response, police operatives reportedly arrested some suspects who are currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia, over their alleged involvement in the incident.
According to the protesters, Solomon was falsely accused before being killed, after which his head, hand, and other body parts were allegedly taken away. They claimed his mutilated remains were buried in a shallow grave near a stream.
Addressing the local government chairman, Anthony Nwaubani, the protesters urged him to ensure that justice prevails and that the full truth about the killing is uncovered.
One of the protesters, identified as Brother Kent, emphasized that the matter should not be swept under the carpet, calling for a thorough investigation and prosecution of everyone involved.
“We want justice for Solomon. We want his head and body parts recovered,” the demonstrators chanted.
They also disclosed that the case had been reported to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation.
