AMACHREE CHALLENGES AL-MUSTAPHA TO RELEASE CCTV FOOTAGE OF ABACHA’S FINAL MOMENTS
Former Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mike Okiro Amachree, has challenged former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (rtd.), to release any available CCTV footage or credible evidence relating to the final hours of General Sani Abacha.
Amachree made the call amid renewed public debate over the circumstances surrounding Abacha’s death, arguing that any available evidence should be made public to help clarify lingering questions and dispel speculation.
He maintained that transparency and verifiable facts are essential in addressing conflicting narratives about the former military leader’s final moments. According to him, if surveillance recordings or other documentary evidence exist, they should be presented for public scrutiny.
The remarks follow recent discussions and claims by Al-Mustapha regarding events leading up to Abacha’s death, which have reignited national interest in one of Nigeria’s most debated historical events.
Political observers say the exchange reflects continued public interest in Nigeria’s military-era history and the need for credible historical records to address longstanding controversies.
As of the latest reports, Al-Mustapha has not publicly responded to the challenge or indicated whether any such CCTV footage exists.
