ALONSO TELLS REAL MADRID TO PLAY AS ONE AFTER HEAVY LOSS TO PSG
Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has called for greater unity and cohesion in his team following their crushing 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final of the Club World Cup.
Speaking after the match at the MetLife Stadium in the United States, Alonso stressed the need to build a side that operates as a collective in all aspects of play.
“We need to build a team. A team that plays together as a unit, in every phase. That’s the goal,” the Spanish coach said during his post-match interview.
Real Madrid were outclassed by Luis Enrique’s PSG on Wednesday night, with Fabian Ruiz netting twice, while Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Ramos each added a goal to seal the emphatic win.
The loss means Real Madrid are out of the tournament and will now shift focus to preparing for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
While disappointing, Alonso’s remarks underline his determination to forge a stronger, more connected side capable of bouncing back and competing at the highest level.
