Wike’s Rascality Overlooked Because He’s Delivering in Abuja – Ali Modu Sheriff

Former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a “rascal”—but says he’s willing to overlook Wike’s behavior because of the work he’s doing in Abuja.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, Sheriff made it clear that while he’s not personally a fan of Wike, he respects his work ethic and impact in the nation’s capital.

“Wike’s character is that of a rascal, but you cannot take away from him that he has changed Abuja. From the time Abuja was created up to this moment, nobody has worked like him,” he said.

Sheriff acknowledged Wike’s often controversial style but emphasized that results are what matter most in governance. He contrasted Wike’s performance with other ministers whom he accused of underperforming and misleading Nigerians.

“There are ministers that are not working but lying to Nigerians. It is not the president’s problem,” he added, making it clear that President Bola Tinubu shouldn't be blamed for the failures of non-performing ministers.

On Peter Obi’s Return to PDP

In the same interview, Sheriff also stirred political discussions by hinting that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, may be on his way back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Sheriff didn’t elaborate much on the timeline or the details but suggested ongoing movements within political circles.

This development, if confirmed, could shake up Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of future elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
