Newcastle United star striker Alexander Isak has shocked fans by informing the club of his desire to leave this summer. The Swedish international is reportedly looking for a fresh challenge, with Liverpool and Arsenal both showing strong interest in signing him.

According to reports, Isak’s decision has thrown Newcastle’s transfer plans into disarray, especially after missing out on top target Hugo Ekitike, who recently joined Liverpool on a six-year deal.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

“Understand Alexander Isak remains a target for Liverpool even after signing Ekitike… but depends on Newcastle. If Newcastle open doors to an exit and #LFC sell Diaz, they can bid after direct contact made 10 days ago.”

While Saudi club Al Hilal is also reportedly interested, Isak has no intention of leaving Europe at this stage of his career.

Newcastle are now expected to begin the search for a new forward, with Isak's exit becoming increasingly likely. The striker has been a key figure for the Magpies and any move will have significant implications for the club ahead of the new season.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
