Reality TV star Alex Unusual has spoken out strongly against the life imprisonment sentence handed to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu was sentenced on November 20 after being convicted on seven terrorism-related charges — a ruling that has sparked intense debate nationwide.

Reacting to the judgment, Alex penned an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the outcome as “deeply unfair.” She argued that the Nigerian justice system often handles similar or even more severe cases with far more leniency.

According to her, known terrorists have negotiated with the government and even walked free through various amnesty programmes. She also highlighted how many corrupt officials accused of looting billions of public funds rarely face meaningful consequences.

She questioned why Kanu’s case — one she described as carrying “complexity and historical weight” — resulted in such a severe punishment.

“This feels like selective justice from the judicial system,”

Her statement has since gained traction on social media, with many Nigerians sharing mixed reactions — some agreeing with her concerns about judicial inconsistency, while others insist the court’s decision must be respected.

As conversations continue across the country and in the diaspora, Alex’s comments add yet another voice to the growing discourse surrounding fairness, ethnicity, and justice in Nigeria

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
