AKOR ADAMS DELIGHTED AFTER SCORING IN SEVILLA’S 4-1 WIN OVER BARCELONA
Nigerian striker Akor Adams has expressed his joy after netting his first goal at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium during Sevilla’s 4-1 victory over Barcelona on Sunday.
The Super Eagles forward came off the bench in the second half and sealed the emphatic win with a calm close-range finish in stoppage time, following an earlier disallowed goal for offside.
“Absolute madness. I want to give credit to Isaac Romero. For me, the first thing I had to do was defend and then go forward. I’m very happy with my first goal at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán,” Adams told Sevilla’s media team.
The 25-year-old’s goal came from an assist by fellow Nigerian Chidera Ejuke, who replaced Alexis Sánchez, as the duo combined to hand Barcelona their heaviest LaLiga defeat since 2015.
Adams commended his teammates’ performance, saying, “This gives the team a lot of credit. We’ve stayed focused, worked hard, and everything we’ve done has paid off.”
Reflecting on the historic win, he added, “It’s a special moment. We need to focus on the positives and move forward.”
The goal marked Adams’ second consecutive league strike, having earlier found the net in Sevilla’s 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano, where he also came off the bench to score the winner.
Before the clash with Barcelona, Adams had expressed confidence in his ability to score, stating, “I believe I can score in every game if I get the right opportunities.”
The in-form striker now has two goals and one assist in six appearances this season, a promising record as he prepares for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Benin.
