AJAH-LEKKI MARKETS FACE WASTE MANAGEMENT ENFORCEMENT

Markets, commercial facilities and other establishments in the Ajah-Lekki axis of Lagos State are set to face increased enforcement over compliance with waste management regulations.

The move is aimed at improving sanitation and ensuring that businesses and public facilities properly manage and dispose of waste generated from their operations.

Authorities said the enforcement would focus on establishments that fail to comply with approved waste disposal practices or engage in activities that could worsen environmental conditions within the area.

The initiative comes amid concerns over waste accumulation and improper disposal in parts of Lagos, particularly in densely populated commercial communities.

Relevant environmental authorities are expected to inspect markets and other facilities to determine their level of compliance and take appropriate action against violators.

Operators have been urged to ensure that waste is properly sorted, stored and disposed of through approved channels.

Residents and business owners were also encouraged to cooperate with environmental officials and maintain clean surroundings.

The enforcement is part of wider efforts by the Lagos State Government to improve sanitation, reduce environmental pollution and promote responsible waste management across the state.

Authorities stressed that maintaining a clean environment requires cooperation between government agencies, businesses, market operators and residents.
