AISHA YESUFU NAMED DEPUTY CHAIR OF ADC MEMBERSHIP REVALIDATION COMMITTEE
Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has been appointed deputy chairperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Membership Revalidation Committee.
The party’s national chairman, Senator David Mark, inaugurated the 20-member committee on Wednesday, describing the exercise as a crucial step toward repositioning the ADC for expansion, unity, stronger internal cohesion, and enhanced electoral competitiveness nationwide.
The committee is chaired by Kashim Imam, with Dr Sekonte Davies serving as secretary.
Senator Mark said the revalidation initiative reflects the party’s founding ideals of justice, equity, accountability, and people-centred governance. He emphasized that maintaining credible and verifiable membership data is vital to the party’s legitimacy, relevance, and long-term political success.
The former Senate President explained that the committee, established by the National Working Committee (NWC), is tasked with supervising nationwide membership revalidation, new registrations, grassroots mobilisation, data harmonisation, and the deployment of both electronic and manual systems to ensure transparency and proper documentation.
He also disclosed that new membership cards featuring state-specific security elements would be introduced, while urging committee members to carry out their duties with integrity, fairness, and inclusiveness, in close collaboration with state and local party leaders across the country.
In his acceptance speech, committee chairman Kashim Imam pledged a diligent and transparent process, describing the exercise as a defining moment aimed at rebuilding the ADC into an inclusive, people-driven political movement nationwide.
Imam noted that the committee has a 30-day mandate to submit its report, adding that mobilisation and registration efforts had already commenced across urban centres, rural communities, deserts, and riverine areas of the country.
