AIICO INSURANCE REFUTES ALLEGATIONS, SAYS MATTER WILL FOLLOW DUE PROCESS

AIICO Insurance Plc has rejected what it described as false and misleading allegations made by a former agent, Obinna Adolphus Nwosu, and said the matter is being handled through the appropriate legal channels.

The insurer said Nwosu’s appointment as an agent had been terminated and that he no longer represents the company in any capacity. AIICO added that it published a public notice in June 2025 warning customers against conducting business with him on behalf of the company.

According to AIICO, it has commenced a defamation action against Nwosu at the Lagos State High Court, rather than engage in a public media dispute over the allegations.

The company urged customers, regulators, employees, media organisations, and members of the public to treat the claims with caution and allow the judicial process to determine the facts.

AIICO said any genuine complaints should be presented through appropriate regulatory, investigative, or judicial channels, where they can be assessed using verifiable evidence.

The insurer reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, accountability, transparency, and due process, saying it would continue to pursue lawful measures to protect its customers, employees, reputation, and other stakeholders.
