A’IBOM DELIVERS 1,048 HOUSING UNITS IN THREE YEARS — COMMISSIONER
The Akwa Ibom State Government says it has delivered over 1,048 housing units to different categories of residents within less than three years under the administration of Governor Umo Eno.
The Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Ummanah, disclosed this on Monday in Uyo while speaking on ARISE Akwa Ibom on Comfort FM and Niger Delta Today on ADBN TV.
Ummanah said the housing projects cut across several schemes, including Compassionate Homes, Grace Estate, Aviation Village, and medical staff residences.
He listed the breakdown as 438 units for Compassionate Homes, 230 units for Grace Estate, 100 units for Aviation Village, and another 100 units for Medical City staff quarters.
Others, according to him, include 64 units for House of Assembly and Executive Council quarters, 50 units for Judiciary quarters, 35 units at Ewet Luxury Garden, and 31 residences for local government chairmen.
“Governor Umo Eno has recorded a significant milestone in the housing sector, delivering over 1,048 housing units in less than three years,” Ummanah said.
He added that housing development remains one of the key pillars of the administration’s ARISE Agenda.
The commissioner further disclosed that more than 150 civil servants on Grade Levels 1–7 have benefited from housing units provided free of charge by the state government.
He also said 355 vulnerable persons have so far received ARISE Compassionate Homes out of 438 completed units, while others are still under construction.
Ummanah noted that plans are underway to deliver an additional 150 townhouses along the reclaimed Uyo Village Road axis.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at reducing housing deficits, stimulating economic growth, and improving urban development across the state.
