AFROBASKET 2025: D’TIGRESS COACH SAYS CAMEROON CLASH WILL BE TOUGH, URGES TEAM TO STEP UP
D’Tigress Coach Wakama Rallies Team Ahead of Tough Quarter-Final Battle Against Cameroon
As the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket heats up in Abidjan, D’Tigress head coach Rena Wakama is urging her team to bring their best game yet in Thursday’s quarter-final clash against Cameroon.
Both Nigeria and Cameroon remain unbeaten in the tournament so far, setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown between two of Africa’s basketball heavyweights.
Coach Wakama, who led the team through solid performances in the group stage, acknowledged the strength of their next opponents and the need for improvement.
“This is the business end of the tournament, and as a team, we know what is at stake. We are following through on our set goals with each game,” she said confidently.
The defending champions, D’Tigress, are aiming to continue their dominance, having gone unbeaten in the last four editions of the Women’s AfroBasket. Still, Wakama insists the team must not take any game lightly, especially against a determined Cameroonian side also eyeing a semi-final spot.
Thursday’s match promises to be a thrilling encounter, with a place in the final four up for grabs. Nigerian fans are hopeful that D’Tigress will rise to the occasion and keep their championship dreams alive.
