AFCON: PAUL ONUACHU SHINES ON RETURN TO TRABZONSPOR AFTER TOURNAMENT
Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu marked his return to Trabzonspor in style, helping the team secure a 2-1 victory against Kasımpaşa on Friday.
Onuachu, coming off the bench, scored his first goal for the club since returning from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He replaced Kazeem Olaigbe in the 46th minute and found the net just five minutes later, assisted by Christ Inao Oulaï. The strike brings Onuachu’s tally for the 2025-2026 season to 12 goals.
The Nigerian international was part of the Super Eagles squad that clinched the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, scoring once during the tournament to help Nigeria reach the podium.
Back at Trabzonspor, Onuachu quickly proved his worth. Kasımpaşa managed to equalise in the 61st minute through Fousseni Diabaté, who converted a through ball from Irfan Can Kahveci during a swift counterattack.
The deadlock persisted until the 84th minute when Oleksandr Zubkov netted the decisive goal from the left side of the box, with a crucial assist from Anthony Nwakaeme, ensuring Trabzonspor emerged victorious.
