AFCON: CHELLE OUTLINES SUPER EAGLES’ STRATEGY TO OVERCOME ALGERIA

Nigeria coach Eric Chelle has shared his strategy for the Super Eagles ahead of their crucial quarterfinal clash against Algeria at Marrakech Stadium on Saturday.

The Super Eagles have been in impressive form throughout the tournament, winning all four of their matches, scoring twelve goals, and conceding just four. Algeria, meanwhile, have also maintained a perfect record, letting in only one goal so far.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the Malian tactician emphasized that the key to victory is simple: scoring more goals than the opposition.

“To win the game, we need to score goals. We study the match and identify the opponent’s weaknesses,” Chelle said. “We tell our team that we can exploit those opportunities. This approach is consistent, no matter the opponent, including Algeria.

“Of course, we focus on Algeria’s weaknesses, but this is the quarterfinals—a major competition. Mental strength and focus are crucial. Players must manage pressure, understand the opponent, and follow their coach’s instructions.

“We put in effort every day, in every training session. That’s why I always emphasize the importance of training.”

A win for Nigeria on Saturday could also be seen as sweet revenge, recalling Algeria’s victory over the Super Eagles in the 2019 AFCON semifinals in Egypt.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
