AFCON 2025: FOUR SUPER EAGLES STARS FACE SUSPENSION AHEAD OF KNOCKOUT CLASH
Four Super Eagles stars are on the brink of suspension as Nigeria prepares to face Uganda in the Round of 16.
Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Semi Ajayi, and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are all just one yellow card away from missing the crucial knockout game.
Osimhen, the team’s main striker, could be sidelined if he picks up a yellow card on Tuesday, potentially prompting coach Eric Chelle to field Paul Onuachu in his place.
Ademola Lookman, who has scored in both of Nigeria’s AFCON matches so far, also faces the risk of suspension. Semi Ajayi is in a similar position, which may lead to Zaidu Sanusi being deployed at full-back.
Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali received a yellow card for time-wasting against Tunisia, meaning another caution could rule him out of the knockout clash. Francis Uzoho is ready to step in if needed.
A win against Uganda would see the Super Eagles finish the group stage with a perfect nine points. Nigeria has already beaten Tanzania 2-1 and Tunisia 3-2, securing their spot in the Round of 16.
