ADEYEMI EXPLOITING CORRUPTION NARRATIVE TO DRAG GBAJABIAMILA, SHIELD HIMSELF – PRESIDENTIAL AIDE

A senior presidential aide has accused former lawmaker Hon. Abdulraheem Adeyemi of exploiting a corruption narrative to tarnish the reputation of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and shield himself from scrutiny.

The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ibrahim Bello, made the allegation on Friday while reacting to recent claims by Adeyemi. He described the former lawmaker’s comments as a desperate attempt to divert attention from his own alleged involvement in financial misconduct.

“Adeyemi is using a corruption narrative to drag the name of the Speaker and other leaders. This is a clear case of deflection. He should focus on clearing his own name rather than attacking innocent leaders,” Bello stated.

The presidential aide said the Speaker has maintained a clean record of public service and should not be dragged into unnecessary controversies. He urged the public to disregard what he called “baseless and politically motivated attacks.”

Adeyemi had earlier accused the Speaker and some National Assembly leaders of involvement in corrupt practices, a claim that has been widely condemned by members of the ruling party.

The controversy has sparked intense debate within political circles, with some analysts suggesting that the accusations are part of a larger power play ahead of future elections. Others believe the claims lack substantial evidence and are aimed at settling personal scores.

The presidential aide called on relevant anti-graft agencies to investigate any credible allegations while warning against the use of the media to smear the character of public officials.
