The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council has demanded the arrest of Sokoto Marshals operatives allegedly involved in an attack on its governorship candidate, Alhaji Munir Dan-Iya.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the council gave security agencies 24 hours to apprehend those responsible, protect the candidate and secure the release of two DSS personnel it claimed were abducted.

The council’s Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the incident occurred on Airport Road in Sokoto on Thursday.

According to the statement, Dan-Iya was returning to the city after accompanying former Governor Aminu Tambuwal from the airport when his convoy was attacked.

The council alleged that members of the state-owned security outfit damaged several vehicles, including the candidate’s SUV.

It further claimed that operatives subsequently harassed motorists at entrances to Sokoto metropolis, particularly those whose vehicles displayed ADC posters or symbols.

The party said Dan-Iya had formally reported the incident to the state Commissioner of Police and requested an investigation.

Describing the alleged attack as political intimidation, the council called on the Inspector-General of Police and other security authorities to ensure accountability.

It also demanded adequate protection for Dan-Iya and other party members, while pledging to pursue its concerns through lawful means.

The allegations, including the reported abduction of two DSS personnel, were not independently established in the supplied report. No responses from the Sokoto Marshals, state government, police or DSS were included.
