ADC BEATS APC AT POLLING UNIT IN FCT AREA COUNCIL ELECTIONS

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed victory over the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Polling Unit 076, Sani Abacha Estate, Wuse Zone 4, during the ongoing Area Council elections across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The election, marked by generally low voter turnout, saw the opposition party emerge victorious at the unit where Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship candidate, Dr. Moses Paul, cast his vote.

Out of the 10 votes recorded at the polling station, ADC secured seven votes, while APC received two. One ballot was rejected.

Earlier, Dr. Paul raised concerns over alleged intimidation of his party agents and attributed the low voter turnout in parts of the council to a movement restriction announced by the Minister of the FCT. He described the turnout as far below expectations and blamed the directive for creating confusion among voters.

Speaking on the situation, Paul said he had lived in AMAC for about 40 years and had never witnessed such circumstances, likening the development to “a state of emergency” over what he considered an unwarranted restriction.

While acknowledging that electoral officials at his polling unit conducted themselves professionally, he reported that ADC agents in Takum Shara and parts of Kabusa ward, including Dogongada and Shereti, were allegedly threatened. Some were reportedly warned they could be maimed or killed—actions he said were intended to suppress voters and sway the election in favor of the ruling party.

He also condemned alleged vote buying in parts of the capital, describing it as a criminal act. Despite these challenges, Dr. Paul expressed confidence in his victory, urging Nigerians to resist intimidation and ensure that the people’s will prevails through accountable leadership.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
