ADAMU GARBA STEPS AWAY FROM POLITICS TO FOCUS ON TECHNOLOGY VENTURE

Former All Progressives Congress presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, has announced his withdrawal from active political participation, saying he will now devote his attention to his technology business.

Garba made the announcement on Tuesday through a statement shared on his X account, explaining that the decision followed careful consideration of his responsibilities as Executive Chairman of IPI Group Limited and Chief Platform Architect of the company and its subsidiaries.

He explained that his current responsibilities require sustained personal attention, technical expertise and a level of involvement that cannot easily be delegated. According to him, combining those duties with extensive political activities would eventually affect the quality of one or both commitments.

Garba said he had therefore decided to give his full attention to developing what he described as an AI-first enterprise, while using technology to contribute to the development of communities and society.

The former aspirant also expressed appreciation to his friends, associates, political leaders, supporters and members of the public who supported him throughout his political journey.

He said his involvement in politics over the past nine years had been an important period that shaped his views and provided him with valuable experiences.

Garba first declared his interest in the Nigerian presidency under the APC ahead of the 2019 election, campaigning around issues including structural reforms, youth participation and national integration.

He remained involved in the party's presidential race ahead of the 2023 general election but eventually withdrew from the contest in 2022.

At the time, he cited the high cost of obtaining the APC's expression-of-interest and nomination forms, which were priced at ₦100 million, arguing that such costs could commercialise politics and make it difficult for young and less-wealthy Nigerians to participate.

His latest announcement does not represent a complete withdrawal from public service, as Garba said he intends to continue contributing to Nigerian and African development through technology.

He described his decision as a shift in focus rather than an abandonment of his commitment to society, with his immediate priority now being the growth of his technology enterprise and the development of AI-driven solutions.

Garba's departure from active politics comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several politicians and potential aspirants positioning themselves for the next electoral cycle.
