ADAMS, CHUKWUEZE SET FOR NIGERIAN SHOWDOWN AS MILAN FACE VENEZIA

Nigerian forwards Akor Adams and Samuel Chukwueze are set to face each other when Venezia travel to San Siro to take on AC Milan in the second matchday of the 2026/27 Serie A season on Friday.

Chukwueze will be hoping to build on AC Milan’s opening-day victory over Torino, where the Rossoneri secured a 2-1 win. The Nigerian winger has been deployed in a new wing-back role by manager Ruben Amorim, with his pace and ability to deliver crosses expected to remain important to Milan’s attacking play.

Adams, meanwhile, heads into the fixture with confidence after making an impressive start to life at Venezia. The Nigerian striker scored twice on his competitive debut as Venezia defeated Modena 3-2 in the Coppa Italia, underlining his goalscoring threat following his move to the newly promoted Serie A side.

However, Venezia’s return to Italy’s top flight got off to a disappointing start as they suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Lecce. The result leaves Adams and his teammates searching for their first league points of the new campaign.

For Chukwueze, the match provides another opportunity to establish himself under Amorim and contribute to Milan’s early-season momentum. The 27-year-old will be expected to use his pace and crossing ability to cause problems for Venezia’s defence.

Milan also enter the contest with a strong recent record against Venezia. The Rossoneri have won each of their last five meetings with the promoted side and kept clean sheets in four of those encounters.

The encounter will therefore provide an interesting battle between two Super Eagles attackers, with Adams looking to help Venezia secure their first Serie A points while Chukwueze seeks another strong performance for Milan.
