ADAMAWA SDP CANDIDATE UNVEILS AGRICULTURE AND JOBS PLAN
The Social Democratic Party governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Christopher Nathaniel, has pledged to use agriculture as a major driver of job creation and economic growth if elected in 2027.
Nathaniel said the state had significant agricultural potential that could generate more wealth if production, processing, packaging and export were properly developed.
Speaking with journalists in Yola, he said his administration would pursue what he described as an agricultural revolution aimed at reducing poverty and creating opportunities for young people.
The candidate also identified livestock and rice production as key areas for investment. He proposed the development of modern abattoirs, cold-storage facilities and livestock processing centres to enable Adamawa to retain more economic value from its cattle industry.
Nathaniel said he would also support the establishment of a major rice processing company to expand the agricultural value chain and create employment.
He further proposed the development of the Mubi cattle market and the establishment of a cargo airport in the area to facilitate trade and attract more investors.
Beyond agriculture, the SDP candidate listed security, education, healthcare, transportation, electricity and youth empowerment among his proposed priorities.
He also promised free childbirth services for women in public healthcare facilities and proposed the conversion of commercial vehicles and tricycles to compressed natural gas to reduce transportation costs.
Nathaniel urged voters to assess candidates based on their plans and competence rather than political affiliation.
