ADAMAWA APC GOV CANDIDATE WELCOMES 21 DEFECTING LG CHAIRMEN
The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Ahmed Galadima Aminu, has welcomed the defection of all 21 local government council chairmen from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC.
Aminu described the move as a boost to the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, saying the new members would strengthen its presence across the state.
The chairmen were joined by council members. According to Adamawa APC Publicity Secretary Victor Dogo, the defectors included 226 councillors and area development administrators.
Welcoming them, Aminu assured the new members that they would be accommodated within the party. He described the APC as a platform for people committed to progress, stability and good governance.
He also praised Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s political leadership, linking the development to efforts to strengthen the party in Adamawa.
Dogo said the officials had chosen to align politically with Fintiri, who had earlier moved from the PDP to the APC.
The defections bring elected representatives from every local government area in the state into the APC, potentially expanding its grassroots campaign network ahead of 2027.
However, the movement of political officeholders does not automatically determine how residents will vote. The parties will still need to convince voters through their candidates, policies and records.
For the APC, the immediate task will be integrating the new members and turning its expanded political structure into support at the polls.
