ADAMAWA ADC FACES CRISIS OVER ALLEGED GOV CANDIDATE SWAP
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State is currently engulfed in crisis following allegations of an illegal substitution of its governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 election.
Party chieftains loyal to the original candidate have raised the alarm, accusing some national and state leaders of attempting to impose a different aspirant without due consultation.
In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, the aggrieved faction described the alleged swap as “a clear violation of the party’s constitution and a betrayal of democratic principles.”
They warned that such actions could lead to mass defection and weaken the party’s chances in the forthcoming polls.
However, the state ADC Chairman dismissed the claims as baseless rumours, insisting that no official candidate has been substituted and that the party remains united.
The controversy has sparked intense speculation within Adamawa’s political circles, with observers warning that unresolved internal wrangling could damage the ADC’s prospects in the 2027 governorship race.
Stakeholders have called for urgent intervention by the national leadership to restore peace and cohesion in the state chapter.
