Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi has broken his silence on the rape allegations he is facing, maintaining his innocence and expressing confidence that justice will prevail.

In an interview with Foot Africa, the Moroccan international described the experience of being falsely accused as “horrible” and “unfair,” adding that he wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

“I am calm. Being falsely accused is horrible, unfair. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I know the truth will come out,” Hakimi said. “I have nothing to blame myself for, and those who know me are aware of that. I remain composed and focus on the important things in my life, namely family and football.”

The Nanterre prosecutor’s office in France has recently called for Hakimi to stand trial over the alleged incident involving a 24-year-old woman in March 2023. Reports claim the footballer invited the woman to his home in Boulogne-Billancourt while his wife and children were away.

Hakimi insists he is innocent and is determined to clear his name, saying he will continue to concentrate on his career and loved ones while awaiting the legal process to unfold.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
