ABUJA PASTOR ACCUSED OF RAPE RETURNS TO CHURCH DAYS AFTER CLAIMING ILLNESS IN COURT
Outrage as Abuja Pastor Accused of Raping 14-Year-Old Resumes Preaching After Bail
Controversy has erupted in Abuja after Pastor Amos Isah, who is currently facing serious rape charges involving a 14-year-old girl, returned to the pulpit just days after being granted bail on health grounds.
Isah, the founder and General Overseer of Prophetic Voice of Fire Ministry International in Gwagwalada, Abuja, was seen in a viral video leading an excited congregation in a church service—despite earlier claiming in court that he was too ill to remain in custody.
According to Essential News, Pastor Isah was arrested on June 18 and spent over five weeks in police detention. He was granted bail on July 25 by Justice Enobie Obanor of the FCT High Court, based on a medical claim that he was suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis that had worsened into a severe breathing condition.
However, just days after walking out of custody, Isah was spotted preaching and dancing energetically at multiple church services held on July 31, August 2, and August 3. Videos posted on his Facebook page show large crowds cheering as the pastor returned to the altar, with church security forming a protective barrier around him.
Pastor Isah is currently facing four criminal charges, including rape, indecency, and violence, after a teenage girl from his church’s media unit accused him of assaulting her in his office on May 26. The girl, who only opened up to her parents after suffering pain and bleeding, said she was scared to speak out at first.
The police investigated and filed the case, leading to his arraignment on July 22, where he pleaded not guilty.
Isah’s swift return to public ministry despite his court claim of serious illness has sparked public outrage, with many questioning the integrity of the justice system and the response of his church community.
The case remains in court, and many Nigerians are calling for a thorough trial and justice for the teenage victim. Meanwhile, the pastor’s continued church activities are drawing criticism from rights activists and concerned citizens.
