ABUJA LAND DISPUTE CASE AGAINST IYABO OBASANJO, OTHERS ADJOURNED AGAIN

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the ongoing land dispute case involving former senator Iyabo Obasanjo and several other defendants over a contested property in the Asokoro District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The case, filed by ABB Electrical Systems Limited and Ambassador Yohana Margif, revolves around ownership claims to a parcel of land identified as Plot 4254, Cadastral Zone A04, measuring about 1.67 hectares in Abuja. The plaintiffs are seeking legal protection over the property and have accused the defendants of interfering with their ownership rights.

During the latest court session, proceedings could not move forward as scheduled, leading the presiding judge to adjourn the matter for further mention. The case has experienced several delays in recent months due to procedural issues, including the absence of legal representatives and challenges relating to service of court documents.

Apart from Iyabo Obasanjo, other defendants in the suit include former FCT senator Philip Aduda, John Mbata, Ismail Iro, Jamaila Sani Alhassan, Altine Jibrin, and other unidentified persons linked to the disputed property.

The plaintiffs insist they are the lawful owners of the land based on a statutory right of occupancy issued by the Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA). They argue that any alteration or occupation of the property by the defendants could cause significant harm to their interests while the matter remains before the court.

With the suit now adjourned, all parties are expected to return to court on the next scheduled date as the legal battle over the high-profile Abuja property continues.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
