The First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, has extended financial support to 500 women in Abia State through the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Economic Empowerment Programme.

The beneficiaries, made up of traders and small-scale business owners, received grants aimed at strengthening their businesses and fostering community development.

At the programme’s launch in Umuahia on Friday, the wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, who represented Mrs. Tinubu, commended her commitment to tackling poverty and unemployment among women across the country.

“This initiative goes beyond boosting businesses; it is about securing families’ futures, ensuring children’s education, and uplifting entire communities,” Mrs. Otti stated.

She emphasized that the programme’s provision of access to funds, knowledge, and tools for self-reliance would create long-term benefits for women in Abia and across Nigeria.

Mrs. Otti further noted that the initiative had already transformed the lives of millions of families nationwide, urging women in the state to continue supporting the First Lady’s vision.

During the event, each beneficiary received a cheque of N50,000, with an appeal from Mrs. Otti to invest the grants wisely in growing their businesses.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
