ABIA POLICE ARREST MAN OVER ALLEGED GUN POSSESSION
The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Ugochukwu Precious, over alleged violent criminal activities and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The suspect, a resident of Umuohia, Ogbor Hill, Aba, was arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad following a complaint over an unpaid iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, said the complaint was received on September 22 after the suspect allegedly obtained the phone through a payment-on-delivery arrangement but failed to pay for it.
According to the police, the dispute later escalated, with the suspect allegedly threatening the seller and engaging other individuals to intimidate him.
Police said a firearm was recovered during the investigation and that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspected members of the group who remained at large.
The command said the suspect would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, urged residents to obey the law and provide useful information to security agencies to support crime prevention efforts.
