The wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, has expressed deep concern over the increasing number of breast cancer cases globally, emphasizing the importance of regular screening, continuous public awareness, and stronger support systems to combat the disease in the state.

Speaking during the 2025 Breast Cancer Awareness Week organized by her office through the Safe Tent Care Initiative in partnership with the Abia State Ministry of Health, Mrs. Otti, represented by the Deputy Governor’s wife, Mrs. Adaeze Emetu, highlighted the emotional and physical toll the illness has taken on women. She noted that early detection and preventive measures remain the most effective ways to tackle the challenge.

Mrs. Otti commended breast cancer survivors in Abia and beyond, describing them as “symbols of courage and resilience whose stories inspire hope and determination in others.” She also reiterated her commitment to supporting individuals still battling the disease and paid tribute to those who lost their lives to it.

“Breast cancer affects everyone—regardless of age, ethnicity, or background,” she said during the statewide awareness campaign.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
