ABIA FIRST LADY ADVOCATES SUPPORT FOR MOTHERS OF MULTIPLE BIRTHS
The wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, has urged husbands not to abandon their wives, especially when blessed with multiple births, but to stand by them through the journey of parenthood.
She made this known during a visit to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, where Mrs. Ehighibe, a native of Umuabali, Umuokpara in Umuahia South Local Government Area, delivered four babies through a Cesarean Section on Thursday.
Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Maureen Aghukwa, Mrs. Otti emphasized that no mother should be left to struggle alone after bringing children into the world.
She explained that she immediately mobilized her team to ensure that both the mother and her newborns received adequate care, describing the quadruple birth as a blessing not just to the family but to the entire state.
“My office is always open to support families blessed with multiple births. No woman should be left to carry this responsibility alone after bringing such joy into the world,” she said.
Mrs. Otti further revealed that government crèche facilities had already been established in some offices, with more on the way, and encouraged nursing mothers across Abia to embrace exclusive breastfeeding.
The Medical Director of FMC, represented by the Head of Nursing, Mrs. Nnenna Imo, expressed appreciation to Governor Alex Otti and his wife for their continued support of women’s welfare in the state.
Meanwhile, the father of the quadruplets, Mr. Chibueze Ehighibe, an officer with the Nigerian Correctional Service in Umuahia, thanked the Governor’s wife for extending her care and support to his family.
