ABDULRAZAQ DONATES MULTI-MILLION NAIRA MATERIALS TO KWARA INMATES
The Kwara State Government has donated essential materials worth millions of naira to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Kwara State Command, to support the welfare and rehabilitation of inmates.
The items, presented at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin, included computer sets, vocational training materials, mattresses and toiletries.
The Permanent Secretary, General Services, Abdulganiyu Yitta, who represented the Secretary to the State Government, said the intervention was aimed at helping the Correctional Service improve its operations and fulfil its rehabilitation mandate.
Yitta said the state government recognised the important role of the correctional service in reforming inmates and supporting their reintegration into society.
He said the donation formed part of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration’s continued support for the command, adding that the government had provided assistance to the service on previous occasions.
The permanent secretary urged correctional officials to ensure that the donated materials were used appropriately and for the benefit of inmates.
Receiving the items, the Kwara State Controller of Corrections, Femi Tolorunlagba, thanked the state government for responding to the command’s request.
Tolorunlagba said the materials would help reduce some of the challenges facing inmates and improve conditions within the correctional facilities.
He also pledged the command’s continued cooperation with the state government in promoting public safety and supporting efforts to build a safer society.
The state government said it would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving correctional services, rehabilitating inmates and strengthening the welfare of people in custody.
