AAC CHALLENGES TINUBU’S FOREIGN VACATION IN COURT
The African Action Congress has filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja challenging President Bola Tinubu’s month-long stay in Europe, alleging that he failed to notify the National Assembly before leaving Nigeria.
The party also challenged the alleged failure of the National Assembly to authorise Vice President Kashim Shettima to act as President after Tinubu’s absence exceeded 21 days.
In the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2358/2026, the AAC asked the court to determine whether Tinubu breached Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution by leaving the country without transmitting a written declaration to the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The party also sought an order preventing the President from embarking on future vacations without complying with the constitutional requirement.
No date has been fixed for the hearing.
Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council said its 2027 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would run an accessible and responsive presidency if elected.
The council’s Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the statement in Abuja while receiving members of the Atiku Unity Movement.
He said the country needed a president who would remain available to respond to issues affecting the economy, security and welfare of citizens.
