85 FOREIGN-TRAINED PHARMACISTS INDUCTED INTO NIGERIAN PROFESSION

The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) on Tuesday inducted 85 foreign-trained pharmacists into the Nigerian pharmaceutical profession.

The induction ceremony, held in Abuja, marks the successful completion of the council’s mandatory orientation and adaptation programme designed to familiarise the pharmacists with local laws, ethics, and practice standards.

Speaking at the event, PCN Registrar, Pharm. Babasola Olufunso, congratulated the new inductees and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in their practice.

“You are now licensed to practise in Nigeria. We expect you to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare system and help address the shortage of skilled pharmacists in the country,” he said.

The inductees expressed gratitude for the opportunity, pledging to bring international best practices to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.

The development is expected to strengthen the nation’s pharmaceutical workforce, especially in specialised areas such as clinical pharmacy, industrial pharmacy, and regulatory affairs.
